CVAD TFC Internship in Collections Research

The College of Visual Arts and Design Texas Fashion Collection offers a student an internship opportunity to gain experience working and learning aspects of collections research. The intern would collaborate and partner with TFC staff under the supervision of the director and curator, working in the following ways.

  • Research, develop, and implement a pragmatic project throughout the internship, drawing from the intern’s unique skills and professional interests and at the discretion of the TFC director.
  • Assist TFC staff on select exhibitions, programming and initiatives related to TFC holdings.

Funding

This internship is generously funded through the TFC Giving Society. The intern will receive a $1,000 academic award coordinated through UNT policies and processes.

Internship Period

This internship consists of 100 hours on-site at the TFC over a semester. The TFC offers three internships over the summer semester, two over the fall semester, and two over the spring semester. If the internship is completed for college credit and additional supervised hours are required, that can be negotiated at the discretion of the TFC director.

Eligibility

During the internship, applicants must be enrolled at any higher education institution, including community colleges, universities, colleges and graduate centers. Applications are encouraged from any discipline, and no professional experience is required.

Materials Needed to Apply

  • A letter stating your qualifications, including relevant coursework and your interest in the fellowship.
  • A writing sample. This should represent your research and writing skills, and the length and content should depend on your expertise. Examples may include research papers, exhibition labels, blog posts, news articles and design process documents.
  • A resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Names and email addresses for two references. Letters of recommendation are not required and will not be reviewed.
